Maintenance Plans

The maintenance of lifting equipment is vital to ensure its proper and safe working condition. Regular test inspections are required by law for all types of lifting equipment at either six or twelve monthly intervals. Some personal safety equipment is required to be inspected more frequently.

However the inspection of a piece of lifting equipment should not be confused with routine maintenance. A powered hoist needs to be serviced at intervals dependant on its duty cycle, how hard it is worked and the environment it is working in.

For example a 2,000kg SWL electric chain hoist that only ever lifts 1,000kg, six times per year as routing maintenance in an engineering shop. Will not need the same service intervals as a 10,000kg SWL hoist, lifting up to 9,500kg three times per day in a dusty quarry crushing plant.

However it is vital that all hoist and cranes are serviced regularly in accordance to manufacturers recommendations and in line with the work load and the environment they are in.

LHS can tailor a maintenance plan to suit all your lifting requirements and can combine it with the routine inspection required by law on your lifting equipment fleet. To discuss this in more detail please contact LHS here.
